Jan and Scott were both born and raised in the Millcreek~Holladay area in the Salt Lake valley. They both attended Evergreen Junior HIgh school... but their paths never crossed back then. Scott attended Skyline High and graduated from the University of Utah following his mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jan was a bit less focused... after attending Olympus High she attend BYU, BYU Hawaii and the U of U studying Fine Arts During those college years they met on a blind date and married in December 1977. They have 5 children, 2 girls and 3 boys... plus an ever growing number of grandkids.
In 1981 they began their journey into the Catering/Wedding industry by managing the Heritage House Reception Center located in Holladay Utah. Fifteen years later, they designed and built Heritage Gardens And... as they say, the rest is history!
When we designed and built Heritage Gardens in 1996, our business plan was to provide an elegant yet functional facility with private gardens convienently located in the Salt Lake Valley... that offered amazing food and exceptional customer service at reasonable prices. Based on our fifteen year track record, we believe we have succeeded.
We have always encouraged prospective brides to shop facilities, price and policies.
And contrary to some rumors, we think you'll be surprised at how well we compare pricewise;
not only to hotels and restaurants, but also to reception centers.

Kent has been with us, moving up the ranks since 1985. He has been the General Manager of Heritage Gardens since we opened in 1996. His years in the social event industry have given him considerable knowledge of logistics, etiquette and traditions. By attending catering conventions and industry trade shows Kent stays current on food and service trends. His ability to see the event from the perspective of both the host and the guest gives him the understanding of what it takes to execute a memorable event. His experience has taught him many do?s and don?ts in event planning.
Kent feels exceptional customer service with a professional and well trained staff and beautiful facility are all paramount in ensuring each event is a success.

Russ has been working at Heritage Gardens since 2007... starting as a banquet
manager, he quickly worked his way up to the position of off-site manager. During
this time he also earned his B.A. from the University of Utah.
Russ had years of experience in the selling field prior to working here, so he came
to this job knowing what it takes to make a customer happy... excellent customer service and follow through.! By conveying the needs and expectations of our clients to those he works along side with (coordinators, general manager, chef and vendors) he helps set the stage to make sure each event comes off with rave reviews.
Russ' attention to detail and ability to organize are what makes him a valuable addition to your event and our team. Thru the years he has gained experience in managing some of the most complex and crazy events... because of these experiences
he can ensure that all aspects of your event are seamlessly executed.
With a strong emphasis on food, his focus is to create a comfortable setting,
tailored to each client and budget. From corporate functions to weddings, he has

DEPOSIT & POLICY CONTRACT~ blah blah blah...
~ Heritage Gardens requires a two thousand dollars ($2000) deposit for your event. One thousand dollars ($1000) is due at initial signing. Four (4) months prior your event date the remaining balance of one thousand dollars ($1000) is due.Deposit is refundable (less $250.00) up to 4 months prior to your event date. Less than 4 months, the deposit is refundable (less $500.00) only if the date & time is booked again for a comparable event (i.e. wedding reception). Cancellation date will be the date Heritage Gardens receives written notice. If your event is canceled, payment for any non-refundable services (i.e. printing, catering, flowers, etc.) is due at that time. Deposit refunds are payable after function date.
~ Evening events: Building is available no earlier than 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight. Morning/afternoon events: Building is available at 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Additional time: $100 per/hr subject to availability. Exceptions must be agreed upon in writing, in advance. If the wedding party, or those contracted by the wedding party arrive earlier than the time provided by the contract, I agree to pay $100 per hour.
~ Rehearsal times available within the hours provided in this contract. Other times are available depending on our schedule & during our regular office hours. Rehearsals scheduled other than the date and times provided for in this contract are not guaranteed until two weeks prior your event date. There is a $50 per hour charge if a rehearsal is scheduled outside our regular office hours. Regular Office hours are: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday - Saturday
~ All candles must be approved in advance by Heritage Gardens. Due to local fire codes, concern for your guests & damage to the facility. No fog or smoke machines allowed because they set off the fire alarm.
~ All food & nonalcoholic beverages are to be provided by Heritage Gardens. Edible Wedding Favors must be pre-approved. No sheet cake allowed.
~ Your final payment is due one week (7 days) prior to your event date. After that time your Catering Count cannot be decreased.
~ Heritage Gardens is not responsible for valuables, gifts or other items in the building or the parking lot. Heritage Gardens is not responsible for equipment from outside vendors with whom you contract. We do not provide cooler space for any flowers not purchased from Heritage Gardens. Any items left on the premises without written consent may be stored outside and be disposed of after 48 hours.
~ I agree to pay for the repair and/or replacement cost for the loss of items and for damage to the building or grounds caused by the wedding party, guests, or anyone with whom the wedding party contracts in conjunction with this event.
~ In our effort to accommodate each bride, we occasionally make exceptions to our policies. When a representative of Heritage Gardens agrees to an exception in policy either verbally or written, you still assume responsibility for any loss or damage that may occur. (i.e. any damage from candles, etc). In the event that anything is delivered before the building availability time indicated on this contract (cakes, flowers, favors, vendor equipment, etc.) either with our without our permission, you accept full responsibility and will not hold Heritage Gardens liable for any loss or damage that may occur.

Heritage Gardens will make every effort to provide professional, legal service to guests 21 years of
age and older. Alcohol service is for 3 consecutive hours; at the end of three hours, the wedding party may add, at the discretion of Heritage Gardens? bartender and manager, up to two (2) additional
hours in half-hour increments, for an additional charge. The building is available until midnight
(unless facility rental is extended), under state law, alcohol service must end one hour prior to closing.
Heritage Gardens does not have a license to sell alcohol. All alcohol must be purchased in Utah.
Any and all leftover alcohol will be returned to the wedding party at the conclusion of the event.
Heritage Gardens will ID wedding party and guests
if their age is in question.
Heritage Gardens reserves the right to suspend alcohol service?to one person, to multiple people, or
to the event as a whole?should we be unable (in the bartender?s or manager?s opinion) to remain in compliance with the law. State law prohibits serving
a person alcohol to the point of intoxication?even if
the person in question is not driving.
Suspension of alcohol service results in a forfeiture
of the alcohol service charge.

LIQUOR POLICIES
Utah liquor law holds the Responsible Party listed on the deposit contract, those who provide alcohol & HG liable for following all applicable liquor laws. The following alcohol policies apply to all events whether or not arrangements have been made for alcohol service.
To ensure to the best of our ability that all liquor-related Utah state laws and Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control regulations are followed, all alcohol will be held and served by Heritage Gardens. No alcohol other than that which the wedding party provides to Heritage Gardens is allowed on the premises. There is a fee for alcohol service.
